Orca Watch
At North Shore Cottages

Step across the gangplank into your own luxurious yacht called Orca Watch. Off the bow is your own private deck and Jacuzzi hot tub with an exquisite waterfront visage of Sucia and Patos Islands (and on a clear night, the lights of Vancouver in the distance).

Board your ship as you enter your stateroom filled with the warmth of hardwood, gleaming brass, and copper. The bay window bow houses a beautiful cedar ship’s table with built-in seating and an overhead ship’s cabin light. Your big screen (40") TV/VCR and surround-sound stereo hides in a ship’s cabinet. A built-in hardwood sideboard and bar is filled with a video library, games, and other surprises. You may want to open your authentic brass-rimmed porthole windows to let in the cool island breezes.

Nestled in a corner is a grey soapstone fire-view woodburning stove warming you while you sit in your Queen Anne chair reading selections from the extensive nautical library collected in the Victorian captain’s bookcase. An original captain’s log-light illumines your reading journey into the world of whaling and sailing.

Your galley kitchen is fully equipped with a Jenn-Air stove and grill, microwave, and full complement of cookware and sailing place-settings. Coffee beans, grinder, and coffee maker are also on board. Enter your Captain’s Quarters and be greeted by an Orcas craftsman-designed queen-size berth with more porthole windows that open to the sea air. French doors open off the back to a private flower garden. The door to the ship’s head reveals a brass sink and fixtures alongside a captain’s medicine chest and water-closet (not the original 1874 Thomas W. Crapper model, but close).

Antique nautical artifacts and original art related to the whales and the whaling tradition are tucked into nooks and crannies throughout your quarters. A ship’s ladder and skylight lead to a mythical upper-deck.
